If we ponder briefly over the contents of this sermon, it becomes apparent with complete clarity, that why it is called so. For [this sermon] embraces the glorification and the commendation conferred upon the Creator of the Universe.

It comprises of the servitude of the slave and his need for his God, and [the Diety] which is to be Worshipped. This is proceeded by the affirmation of his recognition of the testimony of faith concerning Allah the Exalted, the Majestic, and his Lordship.
The hadeeth scholar Shaykh Muhammad Naasir al-Deen al-Albaani rahimahullaah wrote an entire treaty on al-Khutbatul Haajah in which he compiled all its isnaads and commented on it.
Matn Text of the Khutbah The text of the Khutbah is:. Man yahdih Illaahu falaa mudilla lahu wa man yudlil falaa haadiya lahu. We seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of our own souls [and from our bad deeds]. Whomsoever Allaah guides will never be led astray, and whomsoever Allaah leaves astray, no one can guide.

I bear witness that there is no god but Allaah, [alone and without any partner] and I khuutbah witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. Then he recited the following three aayaat interpretation of the meaning:. O you who believe! Fear Allaah as He should be feared, and die not except in a state of Islam as Muslims with complete submission to Allaah.

Be dutiful to your Lord, Who created khitbah from a single person, and from him He created his wife, and from them both He created many men and women, and fear Allaah through Whom you demand your mutual rightsand do not cut the relations of the wombs kinship Surely, Allaah is Ever an All-Watcher over you. Keep your duty to Allaah and fear Him, and speak always the truth.
He will direct you to do righteous good deeds and will forgive you your sins. The words found in brackets are authentic additions from other narrations.
