The story’s different from the first book. To make this story work, the characters — including the supporting cast — needed to feel authentic, with believable motivations.
Even worse, Harper loses what little semblance of personality and individuality she once had upon entering into a relationship with Penn. I don’t know that Penn thought that he was in love but he started getting all possessive and crap over Harper, so it was definitely more than someone should have felt after one kiss a couple of hours after you meet a person. The extremely short story was cute and had humor, I wish it was more developed and longer since it was hard to really get to know the characters with such a short plot, there really was not much of a climax.

It seemed like the book focused more on Harper and Penn’s romance than in anything else, and even that wasn’t that great. Lyla, against all rational thought, is unbelievably attracted to him. Upset over the loss of a potential sports scholarship, what he perceives as his only chance at attending college, Penn retreats into himself, cutting ties with his former friends on the team and becoming reclusive, bitter and angry.
